About a year back you would’ve have never caught me drinking a beer. I have always been more of a wine girl. One day at a local burger joint I decided to try the beer my husband was drinking, and I ended up drinking more than half of it. Ever since then, we have visited a lot of our local breweries and I’ve gotten to try different beers that I like. I think when it comes to beer, at least for me, It’s all about finding your favorite aromas and tastes and sticking to it. I personally am partial to lighter beers with floral & citrus notes to them.
Today is National IPA Day and I am sharing a fun new cocktail recipe in partnership with Cooper’s Craft. Cooper’s Craft has teamed up with Coppertail Brewing Co. to create this special cocktail so I hope you will all enjoy it and share it with your friends as well. I have already shared a little bit of history about Cooper Craft in a previous post, so I will give a little background on Coppertail Brewing as well. Based in Tampa, Florida Coppertail Brewing was born out of the desire to bring quality florida-brewed beer to the area. I found all their beers at my local Total Wine & More which is great because it’s easily acceptable. Today we are using the Free Dive IPA from Coppertail Brewing in our cocktail.
Today we are using the Free Dive IPA from Coppertail Brewing in our cocktail. This beer is a pale golden color mixed with a citrus aroma and taste which mixes well with the Cooper’s Craft Straight bourbon whiskey. When I tasted the cocktail it took me by surprise. I had never thought to mix bourbon and whiskey. The bitterness of the beer mixed with the slight sweetness of the bourbon really plays with your taste buds. This cocktail is best served very cold, and I thought it paired well with sweets. Because of the bitterness of the beer it pairs well with a sweeter palette. This would be a good picnic cocktail to pair with pies or tarts. This cocktail can also be served by itself, perfect for entertaining. It has a very light feel to it, and I think that’s what I like the best.
